With the arrival of my brother has come a lot of conversations about friends from our childhood. And now, with Facebook, you can literally go peak into most people’s lives. Once people who had literally taught me everything about God, Jesus, the bible, I kept finding statements that seemed at odds with all three of those things. This is one. I know this person was a firm, mature Christian at one time, but this statement troubles me:
This sounds dangerously close to violating these scriptures:
Romans 1:25 “Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”
Philippians 3:19 “Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.”
Revelation 21:27 “Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty–but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”
It’s worrisome that even strong leaders seem to throw away basic tenants of the Bible when it comes to this weird, cultist worship of a man who shows no fruits of the Holy Spirit whatsoever. He championed the rich; he terrorized and tortured the refugee; he lied; he bragged about being an unfaithful husband; he encouraged fear and violence; and he tried to cheat to get re-elected. He boasts about imagined victories and achievements; and takes revenge for even the smallest perceived slight. How are Christians not seeing the absolute lack of godliness in this supposed Christian? Even worse, how are they missing that he only says what they want to hear, but his actions never match what he says? He wanted your money and your vote — not your God.
And it kind of makes me sad, because if anyone can fall for this lie, than the antichrist will have no trouble whatsoever deceiving the elect.

Catherine… even though I don’t live in the States.. (my daughter does though) I don’t think I have to be a US citizen to say that I too am quite concerned that so many ‘see but don’t see’ ‘hear but don’t hear’.. especially Christians who cannot seem to recognize lies and deceit… who don’t perhaps want to. They want to hear the words but can’t seem to judge the actions.. or inactions. So many seem so blinded . It’s more than not liking the man… it’s seeing what the lies have done to your country… So much dissention… it saddens me… Anyway, just some of my thoughts… Diane

I feel the same way, Diane. I work with a Christian man who just seems completely blind to Trump’s lack of godly character. I’m mystified. And like you, it makes me sad. I would have thought being tricked would be so much harder. 😦
