Things around here have been crazy, and I apologize for not writing yesterday. In addition to a huge outlaw motorcycle wedding celebration, I had other familial things going on, and I just couldn’t keep up with my reading and writing.
Today, after getting the house back into working order, I opened up my website, and lo and behold! I have 155 Spam Comments. I have Akismet, which has been pretty effective in weeding out the garbage that gets sent to my website, but I’m wondering what happened yesterday. Did Akismet take the day off, like me? I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many spam comments show up overnight.
Reading through these, I have to ask….Why is the grammar so obviously incorrect?? I can see where most of them have tried to sound somewhat personal, but when attached to some of the articles, they just sound ridiculous!
Here’s some of them that make me shake my head and wonder what the h*** they are trying to say.
“I like this post, enjoyed this one appreciate it for posting. “What is a thousand years Time is short for one who thinks, endless for one who yearns.” by Alain.” commented on My Hopes For This Blog
“obviously like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the truth nevertheless I’ll surely come back again.” commented on My Hopes For This Blog 😦
“Thank you for the auspicious writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it. Look advanced to far added agreeable from you! However, how could we communicate?” commented on My Precious Son
“You have observed very interesting details ! ps decent site. “The appearance of right oft leads us wrong.” by Horace.” commented on A Game of Tag.
“What i don’t realize is in reality how you’re no longer really a lot more smartly-favored than you might be now. You are so intelligent. You understand thus significantly on the subject of this matter, produced me in my view imagine it from a lot of various angles. Its like men and women are not interested until it is one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your individual stuffs nice. All the time take care of it up!” commented on How An Outlaw Motorcycle Club Taught Me Honor
Maybe some day, someone could explain to me what exactly “spam” is and why their grammar and spelling is so bad. And how do these messages get me to buy whatever these weirdo websites are selling?

It’s appropriate time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy. I’ve read this post and if I could I want to suggest you few interesting things or tips. Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article. I desire to read even more things about it!
(this on a post that was part of a series it they had bothered to look at other posts they would have seen that lol)
I’d forever want to be update on new articles on this web site, bookmarked ! . 345745 (Isn’t that what the follow button is for?)
Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization.
(this goes on the lecture me about not using enough key words in the right places for quite a while and appears several times apparently if i watch a four minute video and install a plugin all my problems will be solved)
i also need a webdesigners help according to a few spammer who of course will be more than happy to redesign my page for me lol I wonder if they are the same people who have opened 30 bank accounts for me and bought me lottery tickets in various countries around the world who need me to collect my winnings

Bird! These spams scare me… it’s like some kind of creepy artificial intelligence writes them up with no human action sending them at all. Yikes! Bless you, Vince

I just got this one:
“The subsequent time I learn a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I do know it was my choice to read, however I really thought youd have one thing fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could possibly repair when you werent too busy on the lookout for attention.” Seriously insulting!!

Oh Bird . . I loved this! And recognized some of those comments! A friend got one the other day that had us laughing. She said she almost responded to it. . .it was misspelled and said, “Pennies Enlarger”. She was going to see if she could get her pennies enlarged to $20’s!

lol…If it works, would you let me know? I could use some penny upgrades!!!

Oh, you all! I am laughing so loud and hubs is asleep! Stop it! 😀
I think these are of foreign descent and machine-translated into English, hence the bizarre syntax, etc. The purpose has nothing to do with your post content, either. If they send to a million folks and even1/3 are interested/stupid enough to click, they get a hit, which translates into money for them, somehow. That’s all in the world there is to it.
I love Akismet! 🙂

Cute post Bird! I get some “goofy” spam comments as well. I think (just an idea) that they get to our posts via TAGS. Chief wrote something not too long ago about that.
Anyway…thanks WordPress for askimet!

Amen to that! I shutter to think how many I would have if Askimet wasn’t filtering them out for me.

What am I doing wrong – have never been spammed on WP. This sounds like some Nigerian hacker clan who commandeers address books and regurgitates the messages to your friends. Have to admit, some are hilarious, but so annoying.
We had a renewing of wedding vows at our recent Bike Blessing, went off well. Hope the wedding was the same.

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. I imagine I’ve used a word or phrase that they’ve locked in on… Still, it is annoying, and frustrating to try to understand what it is they are saying. Congratulations on renewing your wedding vows. The wedding went well here… Thanks!

I hear ya Bird. The spammers and their generic comments are filtered by Akismet but not automatically deleted. I have even posted a NO SPAM ZONE message written in BOLD RED but still they smear my site with spam.
My site traffic is very low, I don’t expect many likes or comments, but the spammers diminish the sleepy tranquility of my tiny site.
I read many articles and blogs every day and comment on some of those posts. When my comments grow in size from comment of a sentence or two to three or more paragraphs I use my blog to purge the remainder of the conversation from my head. My blog is merely a substitute for talking to myself out loud. Did I just say that out loud?

lol…I, too, think out loud!! I’m being inundated by spam, but now I’m just emptying the folder. I haven’t found any real comments the last several times, so I’m not bothering with reading each one any more.

I don’t think they want to get you to buy something, as much as they want you to go to their site and by doing so download a virus to your computer, or in some way it allows them to hack your computer by helping them get ahold of your password. Either that or they just don’t speak or write English well enough and they are from other countries. I would just delete their comments and add them to your blocked list just in case.
